The defendant pleaded guilty to 17 charges at the courthouse on Friday

A man who contaminated sweets with sedative and provided them to youngsters at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two children who were nine and ten years old.

The accused was arrested after eight minors and a grown-up became sick at the facility in July.

The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old child.

The accused was held in detention prior to a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, prosecuting, detailed the criminal behavior to the court.

She stated his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he ran.

The man conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor explained, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to ingest treats "rapidly".

She informed the proceedings the man had engaged in this activity with the children "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the next day.

She stated the defendant had been able to explain this repeatedly as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had worries in summer 2025.

The legal representative stated further: "Recently" his stepchild had concerns about the activities, for good reason.

"They chose" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."

Mrs Prior KC explained items including lubricant, petroleum jelly and syringes were found, and his stepson notified the law enforcement about his concerns.

She said the defendant proceeded to conduct the "sweet game" with six youngsters that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.

"Authorities" had not arrived by that time," she added.

The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.

The legal representative stated the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member contacted the authorities again.

She said the man then conducted the "candy game" in a space of five youngsters.
